Dublin, Ireland — THE SONAR INSTITUTE proudly announces the election of Sophie O’Riordan as its new President, effective immediately. A distinguished student of Trinity College Dublin, O’Riordan brings a wealth of experience and a unique multicultural background to the organization, promising dynamic leadership for the future.
Fluent in French and possessing a deep understanding of European affairs, O’Riordan is half Irish and half Dutch. Her international upbringing in Brussels, Belgium, and education at European schools have equipped her with a broad perspective on global issues. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics, Economics, and Sociology (PPES) at Trinity College Dublin, O’Riordan has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and leadership.
Upon her election, O’Riordan expressed her gratitude and enthusiasm, stating, “Je suis honorée et ravie d’être membre de cette organisation inspirante qui changera, sans aucun doute, le monde. Merci de me considérer comme Président, je ne sais que dire… je suis vraiment émue…” (I am honored and delighted to be a member of this inspiring organization that will undoubtedly change the world. O’Riordan’s impressive academic record includes notable achievements at St. Gerard’s School in Bray, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 2019 with 590/625 points in the Leaving Certificate. Her involvement in various activities and societies, such as serving as Prefect, Ambassador for Public Speaking, Model United Nations (MUN) and Debating, and Ambassador for French Language and Culture, has prepared her for her new role at THE SONAR INSTITUTE.
Her past leadership experiences include:
- First Place in Soroptimist International Girls’ Public Speaking Competition.
- Commended Delegate at Wesley College Model United Nations.
- Participation in Royal Russel MUN in London, St. Andrew’s MUN, and Terenure College MUN.
- Leinster Schools’ Debating Competition participant.
Additionally, O’Riordan has shown a commitment to social causes through her involvement in the Zambia Outreach Programme, where she helped raise over 40,000 euros for schools, hospitals, and orphanages. Her volunteer work with Bray Lakers, a community-based club for individuals with intellectual disabilities, further underscores her dedication to making a positive impact.
