Recent Newsletter (Sat, 31 Jul 2021, 17:00): EGM – Administrative Board Elections and New Laws Vote
Dear Members,
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the summer!
THE SONAR will be hosting an EGM on Thursday, August 12th at 16:00 (Ireland, UK), 17:00 (France, Germany) to elect two members to the association’s Administrative Board. This is an exciting new opportunity for members to get more actively involved with the association at its highest level of authority, and to contribute their own unique ideas in a stimulating and collaborative environment. The EGM will take place on Zoom, and a link to the meeting will be mailed to members nearer the date. Any member may run in the election and must present a speech, a maximum of three minutes in length, outlining their relevant experience and why they would be an asset to the Board.
The Administrative Board of THE SONAR has been actively engaged with numerous projects, including the establishment of a Reform Committee to constantly review and improve the association’s structure and operations, development of various strategies such as social media, sponsorship, and corporate language, reviews on inclusion and diversity, and the expansion of THE SONAR through events at different universities. If you believe you would enjoy working on these projects and future advancements, do not hesitate to put yourself forward for this upcoming election!
The EGM will also feature the presentation of new proposed laws for THE SONAR, which members will be able to vote on. These proposed law changes will be published 48 hours before the EGM (Tuesday, August 10th) to allow members sufficient time to review and consider their voting decisions in advance. The proposed laws will be available at the link sent to you via our newsletter.
Current Administrative Board member and former Secretary General Lukas Emich has written a welcome booklet for members to explain the Institution Governance of THE SONAR and provide insights into the organization’s inner workings. Those interested in running for an Administrative Board position may benefit from familiarizing themselves with the structure of the organization as outlined in the booklet. The booklet can be accessed on the website or via email.
The acquisition of fresh voices and perspectives always makes for an exciting time in the organization, and we are confident that the two elected members will bring this and much more. To all who hope to run, we wish you the best of luck; to those who do not intend to run, we look forward to seeing you at the EGM to vote on the new laws!
Best wishes,
Holly Ronayne
