Paris, France — THE SONAR INSTITUTE is excited to announce the upcoming Compétition Internationale de Modélisation des Nations Unies Junior en Français, scheduled to take place in January 2021. This prestigious event, the largest digital United Nations summit for junior delegates, will gather participants from over 30 United Nations member states, all competing in the French language. The competition will focus on key global issues, with this year’s central theme being “Comment réussir une diplomatie des Océans à travers le monde?” (“How to Achieve Effective Ocean Diplomacy Worldwide?”).
Model United Nations (MUN) is a time-honored activity that provides students with a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the United Nations. It allows participants to take on the roles of diplomats, representing different countries and debating global issues in a structured format. The Sonar Institute’s competition stands out due to its rigorous format, which adheres to procedures developed in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
This competition is an extraordinary opportunity for students to refine their diplomatic skills, including negotiation, critical thinking, public speaking, and research. It also offers a rare chance to experience the complexity of global diplomacy in a controlled environment that mirrors the actual workings of the UN.
Second Round Announcement:
The competition will unfold in multiple stages, with the second round set to take place in March 2021. This round will build on the foundation laid in January, challenging participants to apply their skills in more complex scenarios and continue their exploration of ocean diplomacy.
