Cian O’Gorman, the association’s General Events Coordinator, who was previously Events Convenor of Trinity College Dublin’s French Society, organized a successful ‘CV Workshop’ event. A guest speaker was present at the event and gave a talk on how members can improve their CVs to ensure successful applications and successful careers. A handful of submitted member CVs selected at random were also reviewed by the guest speaker during the event.
The workshop, held on July 9th, 2021, aimed to equip members with the tools and knowledge necessary to enhance their professional profiles. The guest speaker, an experienced career coach and author, shared expertise on crafting impactful CVs. The speaker emphasized the importance of tailoring CVs to specific job descriptions, highlighting relevant skills and experiences, and using clear, concise language.
During the talk, the guest speaker provided actionable tips on structuring CVs to catch the attention of hiring managers. The significance of a compelling personal statement, the strategic placement of key achievements, and the value of quantifying successes were key points of discussion. Members were encouraged to think critically about their unique selling points and how to present them effectively.
